Clinical Profile |
Recent research on BACOGNIZE® was presented at the 2005 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Pharmacognosy.
BACOGNIZE® was found to exhibit strong in vitro regulation of serotonin receptors 5HT1a and 5HT2a, reducing binding of both 5HT1a agonist and 5HT2a antagonist by 66%. While previous research on Bacopa monnieri focused on the ability of specific compounds native to the plant to regulate neurotransmitters GABA and acetylcholine, this study is thought to provide the first direct evidence that novel extracts of Bacopa can also regulate the activity of specific serotonin receptors. |
The chronic administration of BACOGNIZE® to humans significantly enhanced immediate recall of logical material and language comprehension, and also significantly reduced the distractibility of participants. |
